Step 1: Turn off CAPS LOCK!

Step 2: Use search function and start reading.

Step 3: Come back if you get stuck.

Julian - don't get put off by peoples responses. Your question gets asked a lot but this is a newbie forum so your question is valid.

First read the FAQ's. Understand the rules. An important one to keep in mind is don't ask for help until you have thoroughly researched the problem. No one wants to help someone who won't help themself. (I'm not preaching, it's just my advice).

Next -- read the guide.
Tivo Newbie Guide (http://www.xtreme-emu.com/tutorial.htm)

You've got a lot of reading to do, browse the forum then post your question. People welcome a technical challange, not repeat questions.

If you like Tivo -- PAY -- for the service. Most people who use this forum do pay for service. You will not get much help if you are just looking for a free ride.

--And turn off your caps. :D

Can someone direct me in what I should do about my problem. I do pay for tivo and I also pay the basic for direct tv but I also use a hacked HU card. My problems is that when I put a 3M card in, my tivo says that I have only 5 days left. I really don't want to go through the trouble of calling tivo up and have them set my subscription up again. Is there any way around it? I have searched different forum and mostly it's about adding more hours to it or something like that. I'm a newbie so I don't really know that much about hacking tivo. Thanks

check out this post it should give a start on understanding tivo
and what to do

http://www.dsslounge.com/forums/sho...&threadid=17097

your also will want to look at the FAQ on this forum
once you get a basic understanding do some searching around if you still have questions
im not sure about not calling in and having a subbed directv card
you may wanna ask someone about calling in and if direct tv would have a problem about you not doing it anymore since you are subscribed im guessing for a year. this forum is for directivo
so you may want to go to
http://www.dsschat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=28
they deal with direct tv questions including the tivo side of it just
to keep this forum on the topic
hope this helps
