Can some who knows please give me step by step instructions for installing fixdemo, please include what directory to transfer it to, and what the sysinit edit should look like, if possible could you please show what the lines before and after look like.

I have read and read and there are numerous different instructions on this. I've seen install to /etc, install to /var/hack, I've seen the edit line to say /dev/null and /dev/nell or /dev/null & or /dev/nell &. I'm looking for the one true method.

Everytime I install the fixdemo and restart the system I lose the bash prompt. My cable is fine as I've installed the touch and scl.tc with no trouble.

Thanks

you shouldn't need fixdemo at this point, since the programs which were causing the issue have been fixed afaik.

If thats the case  4 days of reading and fustration and not a single guide or thread I've seen says don't do demofix. Sigh...Mod's it's time to prune the sticky notes.

well, have you been experiencing problems which demofix would solve?

all the guides say to install fixdemo, no mention of having to have a particular problem. It's just listed as one of the steps.

ok, well, the only reason to use fixdemo is if your unit is going into demo mode. the programs that were causing it have been fixed afaik, so unless your particular unit is going into demo mode all the time, then you don't need it.
