View Full Version : What happens if I let it call home?

I'm a legal DTV subscriber. I've installed 25xtreme and played around with some hacks on my 6000 (touch, etc).

I'm thinking about adding a mirrored box for $5/mo. DTV policy says if they don't hear from a box, they *may* charge you full sub for the mirrored box. Therefore, I may want my main/hacked box to call in periodically. Bad idea?

What will happen if I let the box call in on a periodic basis? Will the subtest get reset? Will a re-touch solve this? Will I lose any Tivo functionality or saved programs?

Thanks.

They won't charge you the full sub. Trust me. 2+ years w/o a call in, no problems. However, if you add another receiver, they may want to hear from your main one. Tell them that you would have to tear apart your entertainment center in the home theater, there is no phone in there, and if it is a problem, you will just return the new unit and you cannot believe the way someone who has been such a good customer is being treated. =)

Bottom line, don't sweat it.

Just curious...

If you are a valid DTV subscriber with the 6000 hacks, what happens if it is allowed to call in? When it calls in, can DTV detect the hacks (subtest and all)?
