303 mod and Sony T60

Does anyone know where I could go to read about this 303 mod for my Sony SAT-T60.

There are really three parts to this answer, and they often get a little jumbled up.

1. First, "303 mod" is a slang term that refers to a PROM modification to disable the ZKT test comparing CAM ID to ZKT. This particular hack became important when 745 errors first appeared. the 303 mod actually refers to the first RCA model ever fixed to bypass the ZKT test. Now there are hardware (PROM) mods for almost every RCA firmware out there. Now, on the Tivo, AFAIK, (and I may be wrong here folks) this ZKT test takes place in SOFTWARE, not in PROM. It's not really a reflash issue, its a coding one.

2. Often people get the 303 mod confused with the CAM ID mod. The CAM ID mod allows non Hu- CAM ID's to be tested in the Directivo for diagnostic purposes. Rumor has it that even F series CAM ID's can be used, with the proper modifications to a certain file. (Hint: search for boot299.btl on this forum) Please note that this is also (not really anyway) related to the so called "winkfix" (Also search for that term, there are somewhat-related threads there)

3. These two tie together because when ppl make the hex modifications for #2, they often stumble into a workaround for #1. But NONE of this info is public, and no file has ever been shared on handling #1 and #2.

Finally, #4 (of course there is a #4, I warned you it would be a three part answer!)

4. This is really outside the realm of this forum, or at least what ppl talk about out loud. Folks that have succesfully done #1,2, and 3 never really talk about it. The history of the hobby suggests that either it HAS NOT EVER BEEN DONE (yeah thats it) or those that have pulled it off do not want to share this knowledge because it may threaten the very fabric of the playground we currently occupy.
