Question:
I have a t60 with a quantum fireball 40 gig and 2.0 on it. I'm trying to to to 2.5. I hooked up the quantum as master and a 30 gig WD as slave. For some reason, i can never recognize the quantum as master, but can only recognize it as slave..any thoughts?
Thanx..

Some IDE drives just don't get along. Did you try making the WD master? If both drives work in that config, you can still install Xtreme. Just be sure to designate the proper drives for A and B.

I actually tried that..xtreme tells me that the drive is too small...actually. it also tells me that the maxtor 40 gig is too small..i don't understand that seeing as how the xtreme image is a 40 gig image. Any thoughts to that?

One vendor's 40GB might be slightly more/less than another's. This isn't uncommon. If you don't have anything bigger than a 40GB drive, only thing to do is see if there are any Xtreme images from smaller drives out there.

Its the 40gig maxtor that came with the tivo. Should be ok for a 40 gig image shouldn't it?

This shouldn't be a problem anymore, but read the hinsdale How-to to determine if your quantum could be locked. http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/
Also your bios might not be recognizing the full capacity of the drives. Check the bios setup, you might need a newer version.
