I have a DSR-6000. I upgraded it with 2x60gb and stuck a TivoNet card into it months ago. I also have been running 25Xtreme on the unit since I got it.

After I recieved my TivoNet card from 9th Tee, I would fiddle with it nonstop for a week then leave it alone for a while and go back to fiddleing with it again. I have read pretty much everything I could find as well as emailed 9th Tee on a few occasions, but I always was blown off on that end. So I decided to restore a 2.0 image since it seemed to be the better choice for the TivoNet from my reading (plus the whole no scramble thing).

After 5 or 6 restores failing, I decided to flash the Prom with the 1.84b bin on the 25Xtreme disc. I see the black screen boot I remember from the first time I ever powered up my DirecTivo, the unit accesses the hard drive for a second or two but then just stays at the "Powering Up" screen. I tried restoreing the image again, same result, and then just redid the drives with 25Xtreme in hopes to see it reflash the prom with the hacked 2.05 and start up again (at this time I am pretty much at the end of the idea that my $100 isa ethernet card will ever serve a purpose). Unfortunately I still just have the glorious black screen with the Tivo turd smileing at me telling me to please wait.

If anyone has any ideas as to what I can do to atleast get my Tivo back to working I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you have bash?

Unfortunately no, otherwise I would have manually updated back to 2.05 and just left myself at that.

Are you saying that you connected cable to PC and bash would not connect? Bash comes active way before the TiVo man comes up on the screen.

Sorry, I was not quite myself last night ;)

Yes I can mount partitions 4 and 7 on my pc and move around in them. Partition 4 has the 5 typical files/links in the Prom dir while partition 7 has 1 "TiVoProm.bin" if that helps any.

I have tried pretty much everything I can think of. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free, I am about ready to try anything.

You should be able to restore a 2.0 image. I think you already tried that but maybe try a different backup image. Get one here ===> http://tivofiles.transferdata.com/

Also if you go back to v2.0 from v2.5 you don't have to reflash the prom.

Also if you go back to v2.0 from v2.5 you don't have to reflash the prom.

I had read that as well, but because of the string of failed 2.0 restores I thought it might help. I am going to try the 2.0 image at the link you posted though in case the problem may be with my 2.0 image. Thanks.

Also if you still have problems, try removing the battery for a while.

Still cant seem to get anywhere. The 2.0 image from the site listed I still only get the black powering up screen. I removed the battery for a little over 24 hours as well. Also someone mentioned in PM that they had luck by useing a 25Xtreme image non Mad/Blessed. I tried that as well as a 2.0 non mad/blessed and still no further along. Things are looking bleak for me :(

Have yout tried a different hard drive?
I would restore a known good image of xtreme to a single forty gig drive and see what happens.

If you have an other tivo that works try and see if the unit will boot with that drive configuration.

The system would boot with and error 51 but won't hurt anything thats recorded.

Seemply move the drive config back to its original tivov and all will be ok.

Or if it works and there is nothing important on those drives do a clear and reset everything and and the system will reboot and will take a very long time (few hours )to clear and delete all info on the drive. It will then reboot and you will have to go through the guided setup again and all should good.

I do not have another DirecTivo, just a regular HDR212 and the image I would assume doesnt work across the two. I have actually tried differant hard drives to see if the problem was the drive and I end up with the same result.

just in case you haven't tried this and the hard drive jumpers are set as cable select ... set the jumpers for the "a" drive as master and "b" drive as slave when in pc and tivo

set the jumpers for the "a" drive as master and "b" drive as slave when in pc and tivo

I appreciate the idea, but I have tried moveing the drives and jumpers around both when creating the image as well as installing them in the tivo. I have also tried replaceing the ide cable in the tivo.

I am going to give it a few more days of fiddleing before I just toss it and look at the replaytv's. 480p is sounding kind of sweet and series 2 directivos dont sound to be very close with current holiday season quotes.

Just to get the situation clear:

1: you had extreme working fine
2: you tried to get back to 2.0 but it didn't work
3: you reflashed the bios from extreme
4: you still can't get 2.0 to work, and now extreme doesn't work either?

If this is the case, I'd suggest sending your tivo to me, where I can protect it from further abuse.. :D

seriously, if you're having this much trouble getting it working, you probably screwed something up

I am thinking thats it might be a corrupted prom flash. Would be my luck *sniffle*

If you have the TiVo Terd smiling at you this is a good thing.

It means you are booting up.

I would restore a working copy of 2.0 with bash enabled.

Reflash the prom manually with Bubbaj's speedup prom.

getprom -Update prom.bin

Restore extreme and bootup.

Let xtreme do it's thing it will reboot several times and upgrade to 2.5 then rebuild the database, this can take upto 20 minutes or so. Be patient.

I've included the prom unzip and copy to the prom directory on the tivo.

T_RJ, my problem has been that it seems no drive restores work. I just get the Tivo guy smileing at me and never advance. The prom was flashed with the 1.84b prom bin file from Surgeon's 25Xtreme cd and I have been in this state since.

Do you get the TiVo Guy without any drives attached?

Or just Welcome. Powering up.

If you get the welcome screen without the drives attached and the tivo guy with the drives attached then you are booting.

Restore a working 2.0 image with bash enabled and reflash with Bubbaj's prom.bin

Ahh, thats where the confusion is arising. Its the Tivo guy with the message "Powering Up" on an all black screen with or without drives. I never advance past this very first screen.
