I'm no expert, but you dont need one.
if you want to do it the as close as possible to how tivo would do it themselves - if they were to do it(meaning no hacks other than size and most likely not to have nay problems with new software versions) than see this:
hinsdale (http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/)
if you want to screw with software hacks too, you'll also need to mess with the prom. You can either use 25extreme (search here) or use jafa's prom update script 'tivoflash' along with the hinsdale instructions- search avs forum (http://www.tivocommunity.com)

You may want to search for mfstools. That program will allow you to divorce the two drive set, and make a single drive backup. This will result in a loss of the shows you have saved. It will also allow you to save the shows by merging both drive to a single larger A drive, one of the old drives can then be blessed as the B drive.
The help files have the details, and there are many written explinations already. Use the search key.
