Where can I found and all in one?

I see all these acronyms, programs, tips and tricks in this forum and I am looking to get started. I have an original Sony T60 DTiVo and want to upgrade and network. I hope I am not being too much of a bother to ask, but is there somewhere I can go to find a "hacking for dummies" document. I looked at the TiVo FAQ on tivo.samba.org, but got lost with the info.

There are so many different options to to choose from, where so you start?

Seems I have found what I have found what I was looking for...pvrhack.sonnik.com seems to have a good explaination of what needs to be done as well as what some of the programs do and how to use them.
