I got my 2 new directivo remotes (The one without the page) and it doesnt have the MENU or DISPLAY buttons... Is this right? Did I get the wrong remote? I know how to get to MENU, but how do I view DISPLAY?
Thanks.

If you have no display button, sounds like an SA remote.

Is there a directivo remote with only the channel button (Page isnt written on it) with the display button?
BubbleLamp

Yes. The word PAGE is written below the channel button on these.

So how can we tell if we have the newer remote without the bug?

The word PAGE is on the channel button on the defective remotes.

I bought mine off ebay, and made sure to ask the seller where the word PAGE was printed.

My remote has the word Page on the Chan button. What is defective with these remotes? The only thing I wish, is that it was a bit faster. Are there faster remotes, than the one I have?
Is that what the defect is? The slowness?
That is one of the problems, as well as the "joy stick" button doesn't always go in the direction you point it.

If someone could post where to get them that would be great.. Or who to contact (Tivo or Philips)...

If you bought your Tivo's, then you can call Tivo to get an authorization number then call Philips to get a replacement remote. (Or vice versa!)

There is a big difference between remotes. The defective one is slow and the arrow buttons don't always go the directions you want.
If you call Tivo they will give you an RMA number. They'll send it out pretty quick. It's well worth the phone call.

What do you do if you live in Canada?

Ship me a case of Molson Brador!!
Best bet is to keep your eye on eBay, or maybe one of those universal remotes.

Been on backorder for about 6-8 weeks.. I keep calling every 7-10 days to check on my replacement remote order and they keep saying they just haven't gotten any stock and there's no ETA...
I'd say that if you actually absolutely need a replacement Phililps remote right now, you buy it from Ebay or somewhere else... or be prepared to wait a few months...
PS. This isn't just my case.. there are thousands of people in the same shoes and just as pissed...

What do you do if you live in Canada?
If you happen to have a SA remote lying around, you can use it. It's still much better and faster than that peice of crap.

If they ask and I doubt they will.
Tell em you have a vacation home in the US and that you need it shipped to your Canada address because no one is staying there right now.

I just got my DSR-6000 and immediately called TiVo to get the new remote on it's way..
They're more than happy to help and they ship it themselves, no more RMA numbers.
The issue is twofold.
They ship UPS only, so PO boxes are out. (strike 1)
Mb isn't a state, so shipping to Canada is out (strike 2)
But, shipping to a friend in the US does work (homerun! :)
So, If you're Canadian, you can get your new remote as long as you have a friend who can throw it in the mail.

I'm sorry I'm dumb, but I'm a bit confused over this defective remote stuff..
I have a DSR6k remote with the "Page" on the button. From what I can tell, it seems to work fine. The only annoying things that happen is that sometimes I hit a button, I hear the "pop" sound, but have to wait a few secs for something to happen on the screen. The guide is also sometimes slow to fill. Are these things caused by a defective remote? I can control menus, etc. just fine. Thanks for the help..

Everything "works" with the defective remotes, just much more slowly (and less accurately in the case of the 4-way pad) than the replacement.
(Well, they screwed up the Toshiba remote codes too, but that's another story!)

There is a big difference in the remote. It makes the Tivo itself appear slow but it is actually the remote. If you have a defective remote it is worth the phone call to get a new one.

To clarify....sometimes when you hit the down arrow part of the pad, when scrolling through menus, it will go to the right instead...
The speed thing is more than enough reason to change it. I was used to my stand alone & when I first got my DSR6000 I was totally annoyed with how slow it navigated through the menu's. I thought that it had something to do with the Direct Tv integration into the unit, and it was a Hardware problem. Then I tried my SA remote & the speed difference was like Night and Day. So I did a search in AVS and found out about the defective remotes. Phillips send me a new remote & everything was perfect from then on.

i.e. NOT having to go thru philips since they're backordered and i've placed an order in december and i'm still backordered...
someone said they just called tivo and they were sent a replacement UPS... what # did you use for that, please?

If they tell you it's still on backorder since December, they are trying to smoke you.
I ordered mine the 2nd week in February and got it, after it was back ordered, March 19th.
And to confirm, there is a huge difference in the new remote over the old one.

If your still waiting for remotes then call them again.
I had to rma my dtivo and called on 4/1. Told them about my remote problems and asked about a replacement.
I was told that they had just recieved 40,000 new remotes and would ship out right away. I got mine yesterday 4/5 via ups.
It is a new one with the page on the body and NOT on the button. Works great.

When you call, do they ask you about account number or tivo number or anything like that? Do they ask you if you subscribe??

Do I have to call Tivo or Philips? When I call tivo and press 1 for Directivo, i wait for a bit and then it says one of 2 things:
1) Nobody answered
2) Line Busy
Im calling the 877-367-8486 line....
Should I call the Philips line instead?
Here 's the number to call.
1-800-260-7032.
They are on the west coast.

That's the number I used also T_RJ. It was quick and painless and all they did was ask me my name, address and telephone #. They said I should have it within 3 days, and they also gave me a tracking # just in case I don't get it in 3 days.

I purchased a used Phillips DTiVo unit and it came with an older (very slow) remote. Anyone know if this process for getting a replacement remote still works?

From what I remember, assuming that you subscribe to Direct TV, You call direct TV & tell them that you have a defective remote. They give you some sort of autorization number, then you call phillips. I would ask direct TV for the phillips phone number.

Ok because I just purchased my unit used off ebay. I didn't think you had to be an actual subscriber to receive the exchange.

You don't have to be a subscriber, but since these units were discontinued ages ago, I don't know if Philips would still be swapping remotes for free.
They do come up for sale on ebay from time to time.

Damn, I still can't get through to anybody for the replacement dsr6000 remote. I've pretty much given up any I'm going to purchase one directly from tivo.com
I noticed that the dsr6000 remote they have slightly differs from the one i have, the new one has a window button and a switch to toggle between two diretivo units.
Are these new remotes ok?
