Howdy,
With all the new stuff that's come out since the release of 25Xtreme I wonder if there'll be an update?
The log file fix, the CCC improvements, network driver support, the newer TivoMad and with luck a way to disable remote BIOS updates. Maybe a few more.
This would be good. Anyone know of an update coming?

I'm sure it will. 25xtreme has been a lifesaver!! At least I HOPE it will!!
When is the 3.0 release of the Tivo OS?

I put together an add-on package that includes a lot of the goodies, but I wasn't planning on a complete replacement. I haven't decided whether to even release it since it makes the hacks easier not even requiring bash to enable/disable and customize. My original thought was to put together something that would help those who were struggling with mvchannels, fixsub, log control, showcase/mags activation, etc. But my other side is cautioning restraint since the easier we make hacking the more likely TiVo is to start an anti-hacking crusade. Then again, from what I gather about v3.0, hacks might be locked down anyway so maybe they won't care much about v2.5.
Also I wonder why others who were working on an enhanced xtreme have apparently given up. Other priorites would be my guess.

After thinking about your XYL's point I must say this: She may be right, but how can we know? If you want to play it safe all the group *really* needs is a mod' to disable updates. Everything else we can figure out in time. With help!
Thanks again.
ps. In a perfect world I'd *love* an updated Xtreme, say 2.5A.

I personally would be perfectly happy with another iso image (also a bootable linux) to add updates since 25Xtreme. It's be easier for Surgeon or whomever to put together, I'd think, and then applying upgrades to our tivos would be a 2 step process: 1) Apply 25Xtreme, 2) apply the latest followon disc. Think maybe?
