I am interested in the memory upgrade options. I have the ability to "hot gas" off the old memory ic's and upgrade the unit but want to make sure of a few things. I have noticed a few memory locations blank "can I jst add a another memory ic"

I am curious if anyone else has upgraded the sdram on their units' and if so what is the largest ic you can use?

I have extended experience wtih soldering and have all the proper eqipment "no rat shack guns" so if anyone knows how to do this please let me know.. :)

Thanks

PS My unit has dual 120g HD's and my menu needs to be faste!

Davez :)

Do you have a DTivo?

From what I have read in older posts (try searching you should find some stuff) the DTivo units are already at their max amount of memory.

The only thing I could think of would be to replace the current chips with other high capacity ones, but that could be a risky venture (i.e. how much do you enjoy using your Tivo?).

Now, if you have a standalone, then I suggest:

a.) Shake off that hangover and realize you posted in the DTivo forum

and

b.) Post in the SA Tivo forum ;-)

unfortunately the dtivo is at it's max memory for the PPC uProcessor. But, even if it weren't, there isn't a larger capacity, pin compatible memory chip to the ones installed.

The blank memory locations that you see on the motherboard are for the STi5505 and CS22 processors. The 5505's process the satelite streams and the CS22 is the mpeg decoder. These chips do not require any more memory. Even if they did, upgraded them would not improve your menus...
