View Full Version : Are 594-598 PPV channels? Why can't I buy them?

I've got a legal DTV sub. I have a DSR6000 with 25xtreme. I can purchase normal PPVs in the 100 range. It comes up with "buy and record" option and works fine. But I was under the assumption that PBTV and the others in 594-598 are also available as PPV. They do not "act" like PPV channels. And they won't record. Any help is appreciated.

These channels are controlled by zip code. You are probably in a restricted zip code area. Call DTV and ask.

Yes, 596/597 (and maybe 598) say "not available in your area". But PBTV and 594 do not say this. I assumed they were available for purchase since PBTV is available on our cable TV system here.

No, my wife is the one pressuring me to record some porn!! ;-)

Anyway, I checked again. No ratings limits are set and the dollar limit is at $9.99 (default) which should be fine. Playboy will allow me to order IF I press SELECT/RECORD on the CURRENTLY PLAYING PROGRAM. Example, I go to 595 and it says "press select for ordering information". I can press select and it will allow me to order the current program...which is already in progress. Same for 598 (596-597 are blacked-out in my area).

But, if I use the program guide to try to advance order a Playboy show, it just goes to the normal Tivo record screen (no PPV purchase info), goes into the TO-DO list, but does not record (because I didn't pay for it??).

PPVs in the 100's allow advance ordering. It's just the PORN.

HELP!!

I believe that these channels actually show up as "events" rather than "PPV's" similar to sporting events. For some reason the tivo won't actually record the purchase in advance on "events"

Conduct this experiment...

schedule to record 598 for a future showing and wait... When it is time for the show to come on, I believe you will see it change to 598, but the banner on the screen will ask if you wish to purchase...

Not really sure why it does this...
