I have a t-60 that has been xtreme'd. This unit has been working fine for about a month and a half. Today I turn on the tv and I get the "powering up" message, which goes to the "a few more seconds message" then repeats, over and over and over. I forced a reboot and got the green screen, then the same cycle.
Has anyone else run into this before? Any possible solutions?

I had the green screen of death once and reinstalled v2.5 to fix it. As I recall, I checked thru the logs and saw an MFS error which kept happening on each boot up. I figured it was something I had done. The unit has been running strong ever since.

well I reimaged and got the endless loop again, even before I did any mods. I am going to swap the drives around and see if that helps. Think there may be a bad spot on the factory drive.

i had the dame thing happen with my Philips DSR6k. I changed the jumper settings to cable select & the loop ended. May this will help you!

Have you mucked with the rc.sysinit just before this started happening?
If so you will need to mount the drive in a pc and restore the original rc.sysinit.

NO there were no edits being done in the past few days. I took out and tried to reimage with xtreme and it wouldn't even start up. I then took the maxtor factory 40g out completely and redid and all seems to be well so far.
What was your drive configuration?

maxtor 40 on master and seagate 80g on slave
Which drive is working now?

80 gig seagate. I have omitted the maxtor completely. All is good so for.
I also tried making the maxtor the slave as well and although it started up, when I tried to watch recorded programs, it was freezing and jumping and then packed it in completely.
When you refer to the maxtor drive are you actually refering to original Quantom fireball drive?

Got it from Crutchfield. It even has sony 2.5 stamped on the drive.
Hadn't seen any Maxtor stamped drives. They are the same Company just hadn't seen any maxtor branded drives in any TiVo's yet.
Try and restore xtreme to the Maxtor and see if it works.
I had a 120 gig WD that was unhappy with the Quantum drive unless the WD was the A drive and the Quantum drive was B.
The maxtor may have some bad sectors.
Call maxtor and tell them the drive can't be recognized by four differnet computer.
Don't mention TiVo.
Tell them the bios doesn't see the drive.
When they ask you if you have used there diag prog tell them yes and that it never saw the drive.
They will RMA the drive and send you anew one.
Yes even in CANADA.
Just make sure you tell them that nothing can see the drive.
