Just curious if anyone knows how to get around the Macrovision protection on my dvd player so I can record dvds? I haven't read anywhere that anyone knows how, so I thought I would ask.

If you just want to record the analog output, one way I've done it is with a ReplayTV (not the Panasonic version). Sorry not a good answer if you don't have a RTV and don't want to buy one.

If you want to rip the DVD on your pc try this ===> http://www.pzcommunications.com/decss/main.htm

depends on your player. Apex are the easiest to hack. Follow this link for information: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayershack.php

Picked up the Apex AD-1500 from Amazon for $79 shipped and used the method described here (http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/1500/1500_firmware.htm)

Works great and much easier that the ReplayTV method I was using.
