low speed data port to serial?

I just got a TiVo and I'm kinda new to all this. When I hook up my TiVo to my directv receiver through the IR connection, it's incredibly slow when I turn the channels. I don't have a serial port on the directv receiver but I do have a low speed data port. Is there any way I can convert this to a data port?

Your low speed data port should be your serial port. At least it is on mine the DRD225, just tell it in the setup to use it as a serial port. Works like a charm.
