Ripping my hair out

I'm ready to go insane. After buying a tivo, and an expansion hard drive and hooking everything up, I can't get thing to call out --- because of my DSL line. After talking with TiVo, (who said that sometimes it'll work with people who have DSL, and sometimes it doesn't) I'm ready to rip my hair out. Is there anything I can do, any additional filters I can buy, anything which will get my TiVo working? PLEASE help me.

Make sure that you have the line usage detection turned off.

Take it somewhere that you have access to a regular line and try it there. Bad modems are far from unknown.

Also, if you installed a network card, or ran any of the network scripts even without a card, you may need to modify some things to get it working.


What is the error message you are getting.
