Just wanted to start a thread on a trend I see on the board. I just experienced what I thought was a bad Power supply but turned out to be a bad drive. The Quantum fireball drives are ONE YEAR WARRANTY drives and seem to be failing often. Maxtor now ownes the quantum line of drives. My tivo (purchased in Jan 2002) had a drive manufactured in Nov of 2000. Found a replacement / upgrade on www.pricewatch.com for $100.00. bought a Maxtor 80 gig with 3 year warranty.

You think that is bad, try dealing with IBM and their "Deathstar" drives :-)

Well after further testing it looks like I might have a bad drive, bad power connection to the drive and/or a funky power supply.

Now up and running for over a week with a few restarts to ensure reliability.
