Extending Live Buffer? Modifing the manual record?

With our tivos that have so much space, it would be really nice to extend the buffer to one hour instead of 30 minutes, any suggestions? Also when you are watching a channel and then manually click record, everything that was in the buffer gets deleted and is not recorded, it would be really nice to record everything that was in the buffer.

You'd like to capture the buffer in a manual recording?

I've got a SA TiVo running v2.0.1, and that's the way it works already -- that is, when you press the Record button, the easiest path to take is letting TiVo record in Best quality and include the buffer.

I'll bet DirecTIVo works that way too, since they share the same code base.

On the other issue, enlarging the buffer, of course I agree that it should be possible. ReplayTV's buffer can grow to fill the available space -- why not TiVo? :o

Due number of TiVos i have here I didn't notice that 1.3 doesn't do that and only 2.0.1 does. But buffer should be extended.
