extreme queston

I have a question about extreme 2.5,and I have read a lot and used the search,the question is ,I am getting ready to replace/upgrade the drive in my dsr-6000(philips),I will be putting in a network card,my system is a fully legal subscription to both
direct tv and tivo,if I put the 2.5 on my new drives and the system phones home will i get into trouble?

As long as you haven't used the unit(even for a short period of time0, with a Hacked card, you're fine. There is nothing illegal about simply using the extreme file to flash the prom, etc. However, you should be aware that some people using extreme with phone lines plugged in have been receiving some sort of software upgrade. I'm not sure what it does, but you may want to look into it in the Direct TV Tivo forum.
