Emulated Tivo server?

Has anyone had there Tivo box call up a linux machine (just have the two modems talk to each other, not go through the TelCo) and have the linux machine respond as if it was Tivo server?

I'm not sure, let's see what some of our experts say about this. I think it's possible. The best would be of making your tivo call any local dialup and then connect to some web server (we can buy some sort of an account from a hosting company) and retrive the guide.
