My Tivo decided to get stuck every once in a while so I decided to reinstall the TIVO software and start fresh.
I have a 30HR unit but added a 60 gb hd.
I downloaded the backup from abs.net, thank to the owner.
I have unzipped the winrar files to the big image file I assume, NOW
is that a image file? the file type is 5_NV File, I am not familiar with this.....

How do I install the image to the formatted hard drive?

Can I format the harddrive with a windows box?

Any help is appreciated, specially in a numbered stepped format :D .

TIA

The image should be a mfstool backup and you shouldn't have to reformat the drive. See the How-To ===> http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/

It turns out it kept freezing because the disk was full, I thought it would warn me when that happened or at least work and not freeze the whole system.

Thanks for the link it is good reference

it turns out that that was not it, it still get stuck. How do I install a TIVO backup with a 5_NV extension?

The how-to does not say anything about a 5_NV extension.

I use Tivo.5_Nv instead of Tivo.bak and it seems to work, it does not give me any errors with that. but when I do the
"mfsrestrore -zpi /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc"
command i get "Restore failed: First target drive to small."

I have a bad TIVO A drive as the Secondary Master, and the windows 98 drive with the Tivo image as the Primary Master.

The TIVO drive in the secondary drive is a drive with the TIVO program installed but it locks up at startup, do I need to reformat the drive?
Is that why I get the error?

I need help, I've been without the TIVO for almost 3 months now!!!

Thanks
