I have a hughes ird with the DSR600025Xtreme, upgrade, enhance, etc. but I have too much time in my hands (and I want to learn more), so my question is:

- can I boot from the Hughes 2.0 image from the net, with my ird (I get confused with the prom upgrade that already is in there), then apply tivolater, hack 2.5 so my Hughes became Hughes again?

From what I read and tools I have, I already did the following:
- downloaded Hughes 2.0 image
- mfsrestore to the drive, and added the extra space
- fixup02c.tcl, rc.sysinit and TClient-lib.itcl mods
- copy Update.tcl.gz and Update.cpio.gz to the drive
- gzip -d Update.tcl.gz
- comment out the prom update section in Update.tcl

I don't know if the prom update is only for 2.5 and because I have it then the 2.0 image will not boot in this ird. Thanks.

I put Hughes.bak (2.0 from the net) and the Dtivo won't boot, it reboots short after "Welcome, powering up"

Do you think the Hughes 2.0 from the net is corrupt?

The drive is Western Digital 100GB, all jumper setting no go.

Any ideas?

if you only have 1 WD in it remove all jumpers

I looked again after i posted...

the Hughes GXCEBOT does not need the extra space added if your using a stock tivo 40g drive...

Just restore the image... like i said if its a 40g drive, you dont need to expand it.

All removed still reboots. Maybe this drive is f*. I'll put a 2.5 backup and check if it boots with it, keep you posted. Thanks.

After testing, reading, trying, changing drives, I found the problem:

1.- One time it booted Windows XP
2.- For some weird thing (user error) the drive don't have ideturbo=false

Solution:

1.- write hughes20.bak again to drive
2.- edit_bootparms hdc -i
3.- remove all jumpers (it is a WesternDigital)
4.- booted ok
5.- tivolater ok
6.- setup ok
7.- Now my Hughes is again a Hughes :)

So you ask, why all the trouble?
Answer: to learn some more

Now what?
Fix Miami locals from showing, get Las Vegas, Hartford and WB LA5 locals, and install tytool #5 to download some shows.

Thanks all.
