i have successfully cross-compiled After, a scheduling tool for linux similar to cron. its designed to be lightweight, so it may be lacking some features, but i was able to get this one to compile (unlike madcron for example). the readme is linked below, and attached is the binary. NOTE: I havent messed with this much. if people could test this out, maybe throw up a guide with how they used it, that would be great.

Looks to me from the readme that after's time resolution is down to daily vs. hourly or at a specific time of day.. Do I understand this correctly? Looking for a way to schedule alpha wolf's no service download daemon to run every 30 mins from midnight to 4am....

You know I was giving it a try but my bedroom TV broke a few days ago. I figured out how to install it but the readme isn't very descriptive on how to properly set jobs.
Oh well, I'm about to go pick up a brand new 27" HDTV later today (found a nice $799 samsung at sears, anybody know of any better deals?). I'll probably play around with it more later tonight, though only down side to after is we can't schedule anything down to any incriments less than a day using after. (my nosdd script I need to be able to schedule down to the second).
The thought crossed my mind earlier that maybe somebody who knows at least a little C (I probably almost know enough, haven't touched C in a few years though) could actualy build one that does everything we need from scratch with relative ease. Being on a tivo we realy don't even need as many features that after has, when it comes right down to it, all we need is to just run X program at Y time.

My roommate works for B & O/Showcase Home Entertainment, I could probably get you a better deal if you really wanted something nice.
I got a reg. 27 inch Panasonic for $300 new.
