I've read this board a few times but can't figure out what I need to do. This is what I want to do

1) Take some recordings I already have , remove the commercials and save them as a vcd so I can watch them later and free up space on my TiVo
2) Record some tapes onto the TiVo then take it off to put on VCD and possibly enhance the quality because the recordings are poor

What I have done so far

1) Installed Tysttream 4 on my TiVo and PC
2) Gotten a .m2v .m2a and .txt for one show that I extracted.

3) Use tmpgenc to "simple mux" the files together to get a .mpg file.("simple mux" is under "mpeg tools" in the "file" menu)
4a) Re-encode to whatever format/bit rate you want, then import into a good editing program to remove the commercials.(mpeg2vcr, m2-edit,....)
or
4b) Use tmpgenc's "merge and cut" to cut out the commercials in the native format/bit rate.("merge and cut" is under "mpeg tools" in the "file" menu)
5) Once you have a good, edited mpeg, follow the directions at http://www.vcdhelp.com/ to create the disks of your choice.

Good Luck!
