Newbie..
I have a DSR6000 with 2 drives, a 15gig A drive and a 30gig B drive. I backed up the A drive and now I'm trying to install 25xtreme but it tells me there's not enough space. Can I not install it onto the original 15gig A drive? Thanks.

You have it backwards. You have to restore it to the 30GB drive (A) and then use DTiVoMad in the 2nd part of the process to bring in the 15GB drive (B).

Backwards? I would expect the 15gig to be the OS drive and the 30 gig to be the recording drive. ALso, that would mean the cabling in the DSR6000 is different than normal IDE in that the end connector is the slave as opposed to the master on a PC?
Also, before all this I told the DTivo to completely erase everything. If it did, why would there be no room on the 15gig for 25xtreme. I have to assume there's no room because it's got the OS on it. Let me know if I'm wrong.
Thanks.

2.5Xtreme was derived from the combined image of an original 2-drive DirecTivo. When you load up an image to a new drive, the "A" drive has to be at least as large as the original image. In your case, you are trying to load a combined 45GB image on a 15GB drive which is why you are getting the "Not enough space" fault message. The actual size of the image is less than 45GB and should fit on a 30GB drive. All late model DTivos come with a single 40GB drive. You need to swap the drives so that the 30GB drive is now the "A" drive and the 15GB drive is the "B" drive. When installing 2.5Xtreme, you will have to answer a prompt asking you if the new "A" drive is larger than the old "A" drive and also whether or not you are installing a new "B" drive. You will need to answer yes to each question or else the DTivo will not reclaim the extra space on the "A" drive and will not even utilize the "B" drive. A plain install of 2.5Xtreme will result in only 24 hours of recording capacity and not the original 35 hours.

Like I said you have it wrong as it comes installed from the factory. The 30GB contains the linux OS (a small fraction of it) and part of the MFS database (contains the recordings, settings, etc.). The 15GB is just an extension of the MFS database.
