Found this on a news group.....just thought I should pass it along...

------------------------------------------

"This is an e-mail I received from TiVo regarding my DirecTiVo unit.

Hey there!
Congratulations, your interest in TiVo's beta programs has paid off! We
would like to invite you to participate in the "Early Access" part of
one of our current Beta Programs. This program is for the DIRECTV
Receivers with TiVo Service only (the units that have an DIRECTV
receiver and a Digital Video Recorder combined in one unit), NOT for
the Standalone Digital Recorders. Early Access occurs when the software
is stable and nearly ready for release. At this point, we want to get as
many people looking at the software as possible to make sure no major
bugs were missed during the initial part of the program.

TiVo and DIRECTV have been working together on the next generation
hardware platform, the "Series 2 Digital Satellite Recorders". The
primary focus of the program has been on the new hardware, however there
is a also a new software release that will run on both the Series 2 and
Series 1 (those currently available) platforms. In Early Access you will
be testing the software on your current "Series 1" DIRECTV Receivers. We
cannot tell you any more at this time, we need to wait until you've
signed a Non Disclosure Agreement.

In addition, DIRECTV is in the process of distributing new access cards
(referred to as a P4 card) to all of their subscribers. These cards say
Access Card: 4 on the front of them. Only those of you that have
received and installed these new cards will be able to participate in
the Early Access program. The new software will not work without a new
card and will render your unit useless! If you have not yet received
your new card(s) you should not sign up for the program until you have
installed the card. We will be updating people gradually over a period
time so just sign up when you have installed your card.

So, to participate in this program, you should :

a.. Have received and installed a new access card (P4 card) that says
Access Card: 4 on it
b.. Be at least a moderate user of the TiVo Service
c.. Watch at least 5 hours of television per week
d.. Be willing to endure potential bugs - and report them in a timely
manner (no whining please!)
Intrigued? Ready to sign up? All you need to do right now is complete
the questionnaire at http://beta.tivo.com/eaquestionnaire.html
If you have multiple boxes that you'd like to sign up to receive the
software please fill in the questionnaire for each box. Be sure all
boxes you sign up have a P4 card installed :-)
PLEASE NOTE: Once we have updated your software to the new version we
cannot revert to the previous "released" version without the unit being
returned to us and all your settings and programs being erased.

We look forward to receiving your completed questionnaire!
TiVo Beta Team"

Woah.

Website confirms this beta program being only for P4. Very interesting indeed.

that was already discussed in this thread earlier today: http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15791

I would think nothing of it though. Just remember what we have already accomplished.
