I am at my wits end trying to establish a telnet session to a Phillips series 1 ver 3 software . Initially I was able to get a telnet session and used it to set up FTP, TIVOWeb, and TyTool.

I can ping the Turbonet interface and run FTP and TivoWeb with no problem. But if I try to run a telnet session it will refuse the connection.

I Have done the following.

1).Followed Steve Jenkins approach numerous times.

2.)Ran the Turbonet NIC install from 9th tee

3.)Ran the 3.0 script install from jsprod ( very simple and straightforward)

4.)Copied new tnlited files in case they were corrupted

5.)Verified "tnlited 23 /bash/bin login &" was in rc.sysinit

6.)Put path on tnlited and took it off in rc.sysinit ( I.E /sbin/tnlited...)

7.)Verified the file tnlited exists along the path

8.)Used different telnet client than windows 2000

I would restore from back up and start over but I am afraid there is something obvious I am doing that will cause the same problem again.

Anyone have any suggestions where to look??

Out of curiousity (I'm trying to avoid what I'm paid for) is "tnlited 23 /bash/bin login &" a typo? Shouldn't it be "tnlited 23 /bash/bin -login &"? Otherwise, assuming you have a serial cable, do a "ps ax" to see if tnlited is running.

It is more likely /bash/bin that is the problem - it should be /bin/bash.

Yipes! Thanks zrxk01, must have looked at the line 5 times and still didn't see /bash/bin. I've been wondering if I'm slightly dyslexic.

unfortunately they were both typos in my post and not in rc.sysinit . The line in is "/sbin/tnlited 23 /bin/bash -login &" .

I was hoping that one of you spotted the problem. I dont think I have any choice but to restore and start over. I have looked every where I can possibly think of. FTP, Ping, and TivoWeb all work fine. Telnet still won't connect.
