When attempting to install an LPC mod, I ran into a little problem. A little investigation revealed that the DVD drive had a tumor. Nothing a little hacksaw couldn't fix...

looks like one of the same super-intelligent MS hardware guys that futzed the USB connections figured out a cheaper way to support the DVD drive, without adding a supporting bracket...

sheesh !! :rolleyes:

you would think so, but the bulge wasnt touching the motherboard. it just filled the space between the heatsink with the fan on it and where the lpc header itself was.

mrblack51: did you get 1911 from my favorite software group (as in by association)?

until i reread the post, the pictures make it look as if you lost your ring inside the dvd drive and had to chop it up to get it back. just by the way you layed out the pictures. what a place to post your first post at :)

Ah... Poor Pitbull!

<sigh>

You all know WAY TOO much, but your reference, belies your age. If you'd have said "poor TSR", you'd have been pegged as MUCH older...

:D

Love those guys...

A friend wants me to repair his DVD drive. It ate a disk. I've NEVER seen/used an XBOX, so I don't know if there was supposed to be some sort of rubber on the metal washer stamped into the top of the Philips DVD case.

Since you opened yours up, did you happen to notice if the washer was completely metal, or was there some sort of rubber O-ring to hold the CD in place?

I live in the Baltimore area, is there anyone or where I can contact to assist me in setting up the ability to transfer TiVo files.

Thanks
