Hi, I have recently started converting my mpegs to divx's (via linux and mpegencoder) and was wondering
a couple things:
Why do I get a 480x480 mpeg out of the DTivo when obviously nothing as a 1:1 aspect ratio? I'm sure there is a good reason, I just don't know it.
When I play the mpeg version of a file it gets scaled into a 640x480 version to match the aspect ratio, but when I play it as a divx I just get a 480x480 square. I would guess something is slightly wrong in the conversion. I am using the mpeg2divx bash script that was posted online a while ago. Any thoughts?
