AC3 signal on SAT-T60

I've seen reports that some movies are broadcast with a 5.1 AC3 soundtrack.

Yet so far all the movies that I've extracted have showed up with MPEG audio tracks.

Is there something that I have to do to the TiVo in order to pick up the AC3 soundtrack? Or is it simply that none of the movies my TiVo records have been broadcast in AC3?

You have to select Dolby digital in the setup menu.

Your're right, there aren't a lot in 5.1. If you have a DD receiver, it's easy to tell, all the lights will come on.:D

I know Sex and the City and other HBO original series are all in 5.1. I know because cutting the mpeg becomes even more of a pain. :) I'd love to keep the 5.1, but i haven't found a good way of editing out commercials, etc..

I managed to get Swordfish in DD5.1 with good sync. I failed with Hannibal and a few others. It seems to me that 5.1 is more problematic for sync in the DVD authoring programs.
