Okay, here is the short and sweet.

I recently switched from "other methods of obtaining service" and bought the $37.99 plan from DTV. So all is good but in my guide data, all the channels show up, even when I select show only the channels I recieve.

So since I used to "recieve all" the channels, they still all seem to show up but when I select one I no longer have it just says call for ordering information.

How can I get the guide to update and show only the channels I now recieve with my subscription?

Any help greatly appreciated as always. :-)

Try using mvchannels with the reset option. You might have to a dumpall first to refresh the main.dat file.

Hmm, there is no other way?

I never used mvchannels before, but if that is the only way I guess I could try it.

Do I just need ot execute the binary for mvchannels? I don't need to set it up to run all the time do I?

I just realized something. Did you just switch the guide to "Show channels that I receive", or did you Tell the tivo which channels that you receive & then change the guide to only show those channels. There is an option in one of the menus (Preferences, or Direct TV menu?) Where it shows you a full list of all channels available, then you need to check the ones that you recieve and uncheck the ones that you don't. Or you can just set up your favoirte channels to show all the channels that you receive(the same way).

Well it's just a little involved. It's a tcl script, and has a few support files. If you've never run it, it might not be the best way to go, it's just the one that came to my feeble mind.

If you do want to try it, here's what to do.

Copy all the files into a dir. CD into that dir.

chmod 755 mvchannels.tcl
./mvchannels.tcl reset

That will reset all channels to their default settings, so some channels may drop off, but then the correct ones should reappear.
