I have read a good deal here and occasionally you'll see someone caution that xtreme is more than just open tivo. I have a sub dtivo and stability and reliability are my main concearns but I'd lke to run turbonet and do extraction (as well as tivoweb and others).
So I have gathered that 2.5xtreme is not an automatic in this situation. Here's what I'd propose instead can someone tell me if it will work or if I should just xtreme it.
1) mfs my season passes and settings from current stock+80g 2.5.2 dtivo to two new 120gs
2) add tivoflash upgrade
3) reboot tivo
4) install turbonet and as much of kraven's upgrade as will work (shaky here but I'd like to stay somewhat compatible with the community without doing the xtreme kernel).
5) reboot tivo and enjoy turbonet on 2.5.2

Is this advisable? Will I be more stable than 2.5xtreme? Will I be better off when it comes to upgrade time (read pull the disks and redo some rc. files?). Can anyone help with details on #4?
Thanks

So here's a little more detail to the steps:

1)
Hook tivoA and tivoB to ide1
Hook newA and newB to ide2

mfsbackup -so - /dev/hda /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -r 3 -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hdc /dev/hdd

2)
/tivoflash/install
3)
Install drives in tivo and boot
4)
Hook newA to ide1

/nic_install/nic_install turbonet

5)
drop kravens upgrade in? Does anyone
know how much is standalone? It looks
like he includes most everyhting you'd want

Anyway still looking at it.

If you are going to load Kraven's update, don't run nic_install. Kraven's update already loads the Turbonet drivers and starts a lot of services in separate files, not in rc.sysinit.
