I just ordered a DirecTivo to replace my SA as my primary hackable tivo. I would like to use my 100 gig upgrade drive out of the SA and just return it to normal. Unfortunately I do not have a backup of it anymore. If i just take out the 100 gig drive I know the original one from my HDR212 will be rendered useless. So my only option seems to be to get an image from abs.net and overwrite the original A drive. So my question is this.

If I do this, then how do I set it up to use my information and not the one from the image? Basically I do not want to have any hassle with Tivo corporate. I just want it to be a regular ole tivo that just works with my monthly payment. Once my new DirecTivo is where I would like it to be at, then I will decide whether to go hog-wild on the old one. Just want to make sure that I have no downtime at all during the whole transition. I can not live without Tivo for even a short period of time. :)

Thanks,

Images are generic in the sense that they contain no information specific to your tivo that will prevent it from functioning normally.

You can dowload the image from abs and restore it on your stand alone and it will not affect your subscription info, serial number, etc. You will loose your recordings, season passes, etc.

There may be a way to transfer that info from the 100gig hard drive to whatever you will be using in your stand alone, but you would still need to image the stand alone disk first.
