I recorded the latest UFC fight. The show was only 4 hours, but i suppose they brodcasted it in high resolution. Is there a quick and dirty way to split this event into 2 seperate DVD-R disks to get it to fit without loosing the A/V synch? I gotta find a way to archive this event, The tools I have are SpruceupDVD and DVDMaestro.

Thanks guyz

Try extracting the tystream with a jump point set somewhere in the middle of the program. Perform the extraction in two separate groups. First, set the length of the extracted video in chunks. This may be somewhat tricky since you need to know what the overall length of the program is to estimate the length of the segment to be extracted. If you can extract the entire program and then check the total number of video chunks you can determine the length of the segment you want to extract. Highlight the program and pull down the Options menu from the top of the window. Select the Set length option and a small window will open up. Type in the value corresponding to the number of video chunks contained in the segment to be extracted and press OK. Decide whether you want to use Vsplit Mode or Tystream Mode in the File pulldown menu. Select the Get button at the bottom of the main window and the extraction will commence. Observe the chunk counter in the bottom half of the screen as the extraction progresses. When the length, in chunks, has been met, the counter stops progressing across the screen but the extraction process continues as though the entire program were being extracted. You can close the Tivo Client Alpha window at this point to end the extraction since the disired segment has been extracted.

Restart the Tytool program and refresh the screen again. Highlight the program and select the Options menu again. This time, select the Set Initial Jump option and a small window will open up. Type in the same value previously used to set the length of the first extracted chunk and click OK. Select the Get option and the extraction process begins again. This time, the extraction counter progresses as shown in the size of the file being extracted but the video chunk counter does nothing at this point. When the jump point has been reach, the chunk counter begins and the extraction progresses until the end of the program has been reached. You now have two separate portions of the program that can be authored separately and burned to separate DVDs.

Since there is a 4GB limitation on file size this method may not work for you. There is, however, another method that is pretty simple and may be easier to implement. Open up Tytool and refresh the screen. Highlight the desired program and select the Get Parts button. A window opens up with a list of all of the FSIDs that correspond to the program you selected. Highlight the first half of the FSID listing and select GO. The first portion that corresponds to the selected FSIDs will be extracted in whichever mode you selected. When complete, repeat the process but this time select the remaining FSIDs from the list. The last portion of the program will be extracted and now both segments can be processed as in the above outlined method.
