Greetings,
I reimaged my Tivo with 25xtreme. For some reason, I was not able to connect to Tivo throug the serial cable. So, I burned the update to a CD (didn't want to bother with mounting drives, etc as I was having problems getting the CD to boot) - and copied it to the /4 partition. I was able to gzip -d the archive etc. However, I did not have the cpio command available from the boot cd. I elected to run a "tar -xvf upgrade.tar" --
Does anyone see why this would be any different than cpio?
Also, does the update prevent Tivo updates from the stream?
