View Full Version : New Sony SAT t-60 - best way to proceed..
I'm due to get my new DTivo today ...
I have two Hacked SA svr2000s already. I'm in no rush to hack the DTivo, except to get the additional hours. So my plan is as follows:
1. connect up as average Joe User.
2. hope to get 30day free Tivo Service .. ??
3. Configure SP, channel list etc...
4. Order new 120gig Maxtor & TurboNet card
5. Build new Drive A w/Xtreme onto 120Gig.
6. remove original Drive A, backup & put on shelf.
7. Install new 120gig Xtreme'd drive & TurboNet Card.
and start over again. Setting up SP etc..
End result is a DTivo with Lifetime Sub, additional recording hours, and networked. Never having to touch the original drive other than removing and backing up.
Is this the best way to proceed?

Sounds like a workable plan to me.
I finally got my new SAT T-60 ... working great!
I happen to notice that it did a software upgrade yesterday -> to version 2.5.2
If I build a new disc with Xtreme and install , does that image contain the latest image for version 2.5.2 hence avoiding an upgrade?
if not will that upgrade overwrite the Xtreme - "magic" features intended by the build?

The 2.5Xtreme image is of software version 2.5.01. You will lose the invaluable Starz on Demand feature made available to you by version 2.5.2 (gimme a break). Your DTivo upgraded because you had the phone line plugged in. If you plan on using fixsub (a.k.a. SubTest or touch) then you should NEVER plug in your phone line to the DTivo. If the unit dials in, it will confirm that you do not have a lifetime status and will change the info in your System Information screen to whatever your actual status is. If you do not have a Tivo service sub then you will start getting nag messages and eventually your Tivo will stop working.

thanks. I was hoping there was a work arround. I don't mind paying for the TiVo Sub. That is not the reason I plan on installing Xtreme. So once I install the new 120gig with an Xtreme image, and a TurboNet card I will be ok? I thought that the TurboNet connection also allowed that update capibility? Do I have to limit it's network connection to my LAN?
Thanks
