View Full Version : fastest TMPGEnc method (mine sucks)

I'm using TMPGEnc.
I have a 480 x 480 video
I have upsampled, via Goldenrod's method, the audio to 48K.

I'm now trying to create an SVCD at 480x480 w/48K audio.

My dual 1GHz PIII machine (TMPGEnc uses dual procs) tells me this will take 4 hours. I have upped the bitrate to fill an 800 MB CD-R.

This is crazy - isn't the work already done? Did resetting the bitrate stretch the time?

What should I do to take the available .m2v file and my 48K upsample audio to SVCD in TMPGEnc as quickly as possible?

Thanks all.

Andy

rc3105 is right...if you want to make SVCDs dump the 480X480 into a SVCD imager program ( I like VCD Easy). Follow the steps below to create SVCDs from tivo extractions.

Step 1. Use Tivoweb to tweak bitrate and resolution. Resolutions should be set at 480X480 or 352X480. 352X480 is CVD but should work on SVCD players. Complaint SVCD total bitrate (a/v) should be no more than 2,600 kbps.

Step 2. Extract audio/video via Tytool5. I use vsplit mode because it's faster, no intermediate .ty file needed.

Step 3. Upsample audio to 44.1 kHz (not 48 kHz- it's for DVD)mp2. I use 3 progs. to achieve this. Besweet 1.4 to convert .mp2 to wave. SSRC 1.29 to upsample wave. Toolame to convert back to mp2.

Step 4. Mutiplex the extracted video and the upsampled audio together with bbMpeg or TMPGenc.

Step 5. Use VCD Easy to step chapter points and create image file.

Step 6. Burn with VCD Easy or with any burning prog. I prefer using FireBurner.

Hope this helps.
