I got the Green Death Screen over the weekend. I have had this a couple times before, but it always fixed itself within hours. Not so this time.
I do, however, still have a telnet prompt and can log in.
I would prefer not to whack the drive and load in a backup. My backup is not that current.
Is there anything I can do to fix the unit from within? B

The green screen should repair itself in as little as 15 minutes to up to 24 hours. I have heard scattered reports of this taking 48 hours or more. The fact that it recovered from it on previous occasions is a good sign I suppose. I'd just let it sit and see if it recovers on its own. Otherwise, I'd reload a backup image. If your backup isn't current then you may want to reload whatever image you have and bring it up to date with whatever utilities you have on your current drive and then do a backup.

Well, it's been several days and I still have the GSD. It looks like I will have to start from scratch. I am assuming that there is nothing I can do from within the TIVO to fix it.
I realize there is tons of info out there on how to build up from scratch. Can anyone tell me the most UP TO DATE info?
My unit is a Sony T60 and I have 2 120 GIG HDs and a TurboNet card. B

If you upgraded this Tivo with MFSTools 2.0 and did so before the 'corrected' swap file info came out, the problem may be that your swap file is too small (regardless of the settings you used) to handle the fix. TivoCommunity has a thread on 'rescue settings' to use the alternate partition to get the swap file of an appropriate size to fix the GSOD.
Try over their in the upgrade center forum and check their stickies.

Thank You. Will try that.
I also found out something new. I have YATI installed on this unit and when a call came in, it tried to display the text over the GSD. I say tried, because it just displayed some scrambled stuff. But I think the fact that YATI appears to be working is important. B

I'm have the GSOD, with 2-120GB drives. I know when I xtremed it asked me if the combined drives were greater than 140GB and I answered yes. Did this set the swap file correctly? My DTiVo has been working for several months before this incident. How long before this could become an issue?

If you answered yes to the >140GB query then your swap file size is fine. The fact that boboli recovered from the GSOD is an indication that his swap file was fine as well.
