Just a short observation...

following up on my last post.

I'm wondering if anybody has tried the method I've been presently exploring? vsplit13 -> IFOEdit -> DVD-R

It would appear if the proper handles or headers or whatever is needed for ifoedit to grab onto on the .m2v & .m2a to produce an in-sync mux , there would be a working solution to DVD today.

I just got my latest copy of IFOEdit (.096 beta1) and it does have a variable setting for the audio delay, but it is always grey'ed out. Haven't figured out yet how to adjust it.

anybody else going down my path?

I just purchased the Sony DVD writer ;) about two weeks ago, and VSplit-to-IFOedit-to-DVD looks like a good approach. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what turns up. Thanks for mentioning it!

:D :D ;) :) :p

well, my first burn using IFOEdit to create the TitleSet worked great. I did a 4.3gig DVD-R -- about an hour and 45min movie.

(I've got my TiVo set to record 720x480 @ bitrate (5.8m) using TiVoweb's resource editor to modify.)

the first ten minutes looked great and in-sync. I couldn't check much more, had to go to work! If this works out, it's GOLD for me.

I'm using my SA TiVo as a capture device - I ran a VHS tape in as a test to the A/V s-video input. I've already dumped abunch of DSS streams from my DTiVo so those will be next in-line for testing.

What is really great now is that Derrow has fixed the problem with Nero choking on his files - it would always die during the "file re-allocation" phase just prior to the burn. I believe his new application DVDBurn works just as well, but I'm so used to the interface on Nero that it has become second nature to me, And I haven't burned a coaster yet! (I have burn some discs that don't play, but that wasn't Nero's fault!

more to come....

Guys,

I've got something posted elsewhere on this as well...

I pulled stuff off my SA (and I have not hacked my settings, at least not at the resolution I pulled the Nova program), launched IFOEdit 0.95, and it: mux-ed my files without a hitch (didn't even take all that long on a 1Ghz box), built all the attendant IFOs and BUPs, and then I stuffed them into a video_ts folder and burned it onto a DVD-RW (Pioneer A04).
Worked in my cheapie set-top box without a hitch (Apex, naturally, for $58). All this was without hacking the headers, or adjusting the audio. Go figure.
Two more "grails" remain -- editing out commercials (when they exist - not on Nova), and even more important -- using IFOEdit (I hope) to put multiple shows, with a rudimentary menu.
