I'm still pretty green so please pardon my ignorance and long post :)
I was using Xtreme (w/o Kraven) happily for 2 months on a DSR6000 without a hitch.
I used LogsNull to zero the logs and mvchannels looped to handle the locals.
I was running noppv from a bash prompt every week or two when I needed a PPV. Phone line is unplugged.
Last week when I tried to run noppv I couldn't get a bash prompt. I tried restarting from the menu and it never would get past "Welcome. Please wait."
After numerous attempt to get it to boot (tried removing the CMOS battery, letting it sit for a while, etc.) I plugged in my original backup drive and it booted fine.
I finally gave up trying to revive my hacked drive and I re-Xtremed the drive. After running mvchannels I rebooted and it hung again at the Welcome. I plugged in my backup and once again it booted fine.
The only thing I did differently was NOT doing a Clear All data from the menu.
I re-Xtremed a third time and I did a Clear All before mvchannels (not looped this time). All appears to be fine now but I'm worried about losing my bash again and having to reboot.
I have checked all the cables and have almost ruled out a Tivo hardware problem since it always boots with the backup unit. The hacked drive sounds normal so I'm thinking it a software problem. The unit is on a UPS so I don’t suspect power surges or failures.
Any ideas on what I should look for?
Thanks in advance!
