I just bought an 80GB maxtor from staples. The price was $99 free shipping minus a $20 mail in rebate for a total of $80 for 80GB.

Good links newbie. Normally I don't buy from retail stores, but the WD 80 gig drives are a pretty good deal.

if you live near a frys electronics, keep watching their ads, they always have cheap hard drives like every other week. In fact, just a week ago, they were selling a barracuda 4 7200rpm 80 gigger for $89.

The box was labeled as a 5400 RPM drive, but when I opened it up it was the 7200 RPM Drive. The price was 129.99 with a $30 mail in rebate. You're going to have to see if a store near you still has any of these left.
