Sorry, but I can't get to a dtv forum from work, and this isn't a hacking question, so I'm asking it here. I used to be able to leave in my subd card for a few hours & the 721 message would clear up on it's own, when the tiers were refreshed. I guess sometimes it would take up to a day or two. Is that still the case? It's been a few weeks since it's been in the receiver. It might even be at usw0700? It's a P4. Is there any chance that it will eventually get refreshed, or am I going to have to call Dave?

Being a connoisseur of all things satellite based I would have to first agree with BL and say that this question is best asked elsewhere. But if all is legit as you say it is you will most likely have to call DTV and have them fix the card for you.

It's a subd P4, not a hacked HU. The reason that it's getting the message is because the card hasn't been in a receiver that has been hooked up to a satellite dish lately. It has nothing to do with hacking. If I had said that My TV broke, so I put my reciever in the closet for a month(until my tv was fixed) & now it's getting the 721 message, would you still say it's a hacking question? Maybe I gave too much info with the usw thing, showing that I have knowledge of dtv hacking issues, but the fact that I can't verify it shows that I'm not trying to hack the card. Anyway, I agree, it's a question best answered on another forum, I'm just not allowed to go to another forum, for now. I still don't see it as a dtv hacking question, but if no one choosed to answer... fine.

I have a number of recievers that are all legit, and DTV killed the old cards from time to time at random, They insists that it only occurs if the unit has been powered off for 2 or more weeks, but I don't buy it since I had often been wathcing the unit a few hours before the blackout. Locals also disappear from time to time. Things have been pretty stable for the last few months, but I have had to call them a number of time to reactivate legit cards. The P4 swapout disclosed that they had had some of the unit improperly entered in the system, but things have run well since the swap.

Actually you showed us that you *don't* have that much knowledge of Dtv hacking issues, talking about USW007 on a P4...

If you are completely legit and paying for your sub why are posting questions here on whether or not you should call 'Dave'? If *my* card gave the 721 message I certainly would not hesitate to call DirecTV and get rid of the message! But then again I am completely legal on the Dtv side these days...

- O.k. Maybe your right. Perhaps my knowledge is limited :o

I never said that I'm completely legit. I just said that the question was about a legit subd card & the problem that I'm asking about isn't being caused by using the P4 in an illegal manor. Also, I am not asking how to Hack the card to make it work. That’s the main issue here. This forum doesn't allow the discussion of hacking, but most of it's popularity is because many hackers come here looking for ways to make their tivos work better. I agree that we shouldn't discuss anything that gives information on how to hack a direct tv system, but if we can't even admit the possibility that one of our Tivo's may have had a hacked card in it sometime in the past, we might as well hang out at AVS. This forum became what it is today because people at AVS were so intolerant to these type of discussions. Is that what's going to happen to this site?

Heh groundhog, I didn't mean to turn this into the thread it's become. I think we all sort of read into your question more than was there, or it was poorly worded to begin with. Bottom line is, a lot of us "test". And a lot of discussion does get close to the edge.

That said, I have no P4's, so I don't know what's what with them. Captain seems to have the most experience with them. I suppose it's entirely possible that your card missed an update that's now needed, ala USW8 for the P3.

Now if you have some way to tweak the P4, then I think almost all of us would be curious! ;)

You didn't turn it into what it's become. I did. Sorry if it seemed that I was trying to argue with you. I guess I was. I just got frustrated because it seemed like a simple question that may have easily been answered. Thanks for your level-headed responce. Can't we all just get along :)

-Update. When I got home, the TV was working. It took less than 24 hours, but the channels came back on their own.

All's well that ends well.

This forum is getting a little pissy lately. Just take it all with a grain of salt, groundhog.
