I am having a problem with xplusz. I installed it following the instructions and everything seemed to go as planned yet I am having problems with it. When I enter a command such as "#3" it seems to work. On the test dial screen it says "executing xplusz" after a minute and everything goes to succesfull. The ppv flag is then removed after that. I also know some other things are working because backdoors are enabled on boot and I ran tivotitle via the remote and it worked (worked as in not only said "executing xplusz, but also acctually changed the program descriptions). Other things do not work though. I cannot change the tempmon high threshold or reset the tempmon recycle frequency. I make a test call changing dialing prefix to "#13,57" and dial. I get the same message of "executing xplusz" and the succesfull, but it apparently did not work. This should have reset the high temp warning from 53 to 57. Every 15 minutes I get an onscreen message saying something like "warning tivo high temp 55 c." My tivo runs around 57 or 58 so it is extremely annoying to have this message every 15 minutes. I tried using the uninstall command via the remote but it did not uninstall xplusz.

After unsuccesfuly trying to uninstall xplusz, I tried to just reinstall it over the old copy. It said it was already installed and asked if I wanted to do an upgrade to keep my options or do a full install. I did a full install. This did not fix the problem. In case it matters, I have not installed kraven's upgrade but from what I have read, xplusz was designed to work without it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just tried #13,57 and it worked for me. Do a #12 and you can see the status of tempmon. You should be able to turn tempmon completely off with #26,0

It would be helpful if you posted the display of #12 and the contents of the /var/hack/etc/crontab file.

Otherwise, if you still have problems, it could be that the crontab file is out of sync with xPlusz. Do a uninstall, delete the /var/hack/etc/crontab file and do a full install again.

I will be releasing a new version of xPlusz with some additional functions and it should be compatible with the KRavEN upgrade.

P.S. Make sure you're entering the # commands in the Call Waiting Prefix, not the Dial Prefix.

Thank you very much. Your P.S. was the problem. I was entering it in the dialing prefix. No wonder nothing worked. Next time I will read the directions more carefully. I guess the things that did work were all enabled on boot up.
I do have one question though. Once of the things you suggested to give the contents of #12. I enter that and nothing happens. I seem to remember using a backdoor key a while back to get to a log screen. Is that what I am supposed to do after entering #12?

If you run #12 the output normally goes to the /var/log/messages file. You can view that file from bash with tail or joe, etc. Or view it right on the TV screen by first enabling backdoors, press Clear Enter Clear Thumbs-Up then use Up/Down and Page-Up/Page-Down to move through the log information and the right arrow to move through the log files until you see /var/log/messages. Or view it directly on the TV screen by entering #0#12. The #0 preceeding display commands directs any displayed output directly to the TV screen.
