hey guys orginally i had bought a new hd to put in my tivo and got it working, but now i want to add a second hd to it so i thought that i would use the orginal one that came out of the unit but it says it is write protected. i remember reading about it but did a search and couldnt find anything any help would be great!

Did you get the write protected message when you booted up in Linux? If so, it sounds like you installed your A drive as the primary master in your PC. You need to install the A drive as secondary master, the B drive as primary slave, the CD-ROM as secondary slave, and the original Windows drive as primary master. If you are not performing a backup or restore, the Windows drive does not need to be installed and the CD-ROM can be set up as primary master. If you don't already have it, get a copyt of Hinsdale's How Tos and MFS Tools 2.0 for adding a 2nd drive. The download links are on page 3 of the How Tos Only thread or you can download them from 9th Tee.
tried that! i even swap out drives to see if i had done something to my pc but it still does the same thing. i rember reading something about it on the net of a program that unlocks the drive. any ideas?
