I've got a stock Philips DSR6000 that has always worked fine but now just shuts down, instantly reboots, works for about 30 minutes, shuts down, reboots, works. I've checked the temperature (50C Normal). Is this a power supply problem or something on the main board? If a supply problem, do you know what needs to be checked/replaced?
Thanks.

Run disk diagnostics on the hard drives with software available at the hard disk manufacturer's website.

This has been posted on this board lots of times already but the problem sounds like the little white flat ribbon cable & connectors between the p/s & the main board. Wiggle and/or remove & clean it's contacts to fix...

I have a newly extremed Western Digital 40 GB 7200 rpm drive, and when i put it in, it works, reboots, works, reboots, etc.

If i put the original drive back in, however, it boots up and works just fine. I've run all the diagnostics and the drive appears to work fine. Any ideas?

Check the current ratings of the two drives. My bet is the 7200rpm drive pulls more amperage and your power supply is marginal. Could be enough of a difference to cause your problems.
