Guys,

Newbie first post.

Got Sony T60 w/ Maxtor 40GB-A Drive.
Did Backup & 25xtremed the Maxtor 40GB and Everything works fine.
Tried the Kraven Update and LOST the Bash after Step 6. /tvbin/reboot.

Now, I want to:
1. Wipe out or re-Xtreme my Maxtor 40GB w/ SupperZap 2.5.2 T60 image.
2. Install Kraven Update like SuperZap suggested while the Tivo A Drive is in the PC.
3. Install SupperZap xPlusz 2.16 while drive is in PC.

Problem:
1. I cannot restore SupperZap 2.5.2 T60 image onto my Xtremed Maxtor 40GB.

Using the following command:
mkdir /dos
mount /dev/hda1 /dos
mfstools-1.0/mfstool restore -zi /dos/t60252x1.mfs /dev/hdb
(My Tivo A Drive is -- Primary Slave)

Error Message: "RESTORE FAILED: BACKUP TARGET NOT LARGE ENOUGH FOR ENTIRE BACKUP BY ITSELF."

How can I wipe off everything and restart or restore SuperZap 2.5.2 image?

SuperZap help pls.

Thanks

First off, Kraven's Update sets the terminal speed to 115200. So if you lost bash after the reboot, be sure to up your terminal speed.

Now, the computer that you are attempting to restore SZ's image from, is that the same computer you used to put Xtreme on? Also are you sure the bios of that computer detected the full 40 gigs of the Tivo A drive?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no need to wipe a drive before restoring an image, the restore automatically writes over all of the old info.

I use a P4 1.4 w/ Asus P4T motherboard.
It should detect the Maxtor 40GB because I used it to Xtremed the same Maxtor 40GB(Single A Drive).

Should I try the qunlock.exe to unlock the drive first?

Rite now, I want to REDO the whole setup.
1. Restore w/ SuperZap's 2.5.2 onto my already Xtremed Maxtor 40 GB Sony-T60.
2. Transfer Kraven Update while the Maxtor HD is still in my PC like SuperZap suggested to do.
3. Put in the xPlusz 2.16 ultilites to play around with.

One thing:
I already "Clear&Delete" my T60 (the 1 hr process) but that didn't help.

Anyone w/ suggestions?

Me lost --- Linux dummie here.

*** Are these the rite command to use to restore?***
mkdir /dos
mount /dev/hda1 /dos
mfstools-1.0/mfstool restore -zi /dos/t60252x1.mfs /dev/hdb
(My Tivo A Drive is -- Primary Slave)

Please post some Linux command to help me out here.

Well I'm a newbie to this, but let me share my experience. I worked on my T60 day before yesterday trying to load 25xtreme. I had the identical message as you when I had the 40 gig drive identified as the PRIMARY SLAVE. I changed it to SECONDARY SLAVE and it loaded fine. Why I have no idea.

You may see me around with questions today as my 120 gig drive came in and I am going to redo it this afternoon.

Good Luck

The t60252x1.mfs image came from a T60 with the factory Maxtor 40GB drive, so if you have the same drive I'm puzzled. Do you have the same Maxtor Fireball 40GB installed by the Sony TiVo factory? If you have another Maxtor 40GB drive like a D-540 model, it might be slightly smaller.
Try this. After booting the CD with the Maxtor in your PC, enter "root" to login and use the <shift-page up> and <shift-page down> keys to scroll up to the messages and you should see what HD types and sizes that linux recognized.

Thanks flydss suggestion. I hooked my Maxtor 40 GB(D-540model) as SECONDARY SLAVE.

Everything started to when smoothly. I was able to:
Restore SZ t60252x1.mfs image (as Secondary Slave)
Then, upgraded w/ Kraven upgrade.
Last, installed xPlusz 2.16 by SZ.

ALL DONE WHILE TIVO DRIVE IS IN PC. (NO BASH MODE)

Problem happens when I start to record a regular show:
"A hardware problem has been detected which needs your attention. Until this problem is fixed, you will not be able to record..."System Reset"."

I DID Reset my SONY T60 like 3 times and STILL get that nag.
ALSO, COMMAND #4 (using "Set Call Waiting Prefix.") Suceeded BUT Sys Info show NO "BACKDOORS ENABLE"

SuperZap any suggestions or helps please?

You must do a "Clear and Delete Everything" reset.

Thanks DARKWING for your USEFUL reply!
The "Clear & Delete" (took me like 1:30hrs) works and everything up and running!

Except -- xPlusz 2.16 is not working that good. The Backdoor is not enable on Reboot or Boot up.

SZ I think xPlusz 2.16 has quite a few bugs.
T60-2.5.2 only can Enable Backdoors by doing a "Search by Title" 'B M U S 1'.

Thanks everyone for the help!

There is only 1 bug in xPlusz v2.16 as far as I know ===> http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20149

There is a workaround described in that thread and I should have the fix ready this week.
