I'm using TyTool5 on a W2K pc (it gets a kernel error on WinME).
Tivo 2.5 is running on my Sony SAT-T60.

No matter what mode I use (VSplit or TyStream), my .m2a and .m2v files are zero length. When I use TySteam, I can get a reasonably sized .ty file but VSplit turns it into zero length .m2a and .m2v files.

Sounds like you are trying to extract encrypted shows, you can't. You have to run noscramble or modify the kernel to save shows unencrypted in order to pull them off later.

will noscramble work for 2.5?

where can I get installation / operation instructions?

where can I download it?

I just tried vsplitting a large 30 minute recording and I did get two files which WMP was able to play. Each file was 16 seconds long. One file was audio and the other was video. They both match each other (the sound matches the audio).

Besides the fact that VSplit turned a 153M file into a 16 second clip ... here's the odd part ... that clip is not part of the 153M recording! I don't know where the clip came from.

The 153M file was an episode of Seinfeld. The clip was a portion of a VW commercial which was not part of that episode of Seinfeld. As a matter of fact, I watched all of my recordings with commercials and I can't find any single recording where that commercial would come from.

Any ideas?
