I am a dtv veteran, but I'm brand new to this whole tivo scene. I've been reading a bit and just ordered myself a T-60 from dave cuz they sounded like fun. After all my reading there is one question I'm still not clear on. Most everything you read talks about extreme25 as THE means of getting the bash prompt. It's my understanding that current tivo software is up to 3.1. First, is extreme25 still the method of choice for these new units, or does it even work on them? If not, what is the method of choice for the newer T-60 units. Lastly, is it worth investing in a turbonet adapter for a dtivo unit as a means, among other things, considering that the Dtivo's don't need to phone home to get thier data?

The T60 I just ordered from Dave came with 2.5 on it anyway, so you're not going to lose anything by going to xtreme2.5.

One of the pros can correct me if I am wrong, but is it not true that if you put 2.5xtreme on a drive and install it in a Tivo, 3.1 is simply out of the picture alltogether, unless the update is sent down and installed?

And are there not ways to prevent that from happening if desired? I am new to much of this myself, so If I am off base here, someone pipe up.
