So far I have only been able to extract one partial show with TyTool successfully. Since last night when I was successful, I've been having a problem. After starting the server via bash and getting the show listings in Tivo Client Alpha #5 I select the show I want to download and vsplit. When I hit the GET button I get to the message "Detected TiVo Type: Standalone" which is true, but then the program crashes and XP Professional tells me "TyTool5.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have tried several reboots of both my TiVo and XP computer, but still get the same error. Below are the error report details that Microsoft sends home:

Thanks for the suggestion Hi8. Unfortunately, I'm not at all ready to get rid of XP Pro. I have solved my problem though. When TyTool was crashing I had the local directory set at "C:\TiVo\". After I changed it to "C:\TiVo" everthing seems to be working again.

Greetings,

Oddly enough, I am having the same problem... So far I have tried my XP box and 2 other computers running Win 2K pro. The program gets the now showing list with no problem but crashes several seconds after hitting the get button. It seems odd that all three machines would experience the exact same thing. Here is what the telnet session looks like when the crash occurs:

bash-2.02# ./tserver_mfs5r2

Any ideas?

Dooh! Figured out what the problem was in my case... I never changed the default Download directory in the Tivo Client. When the program went to extract from the Tivo to the non-existent directory it crashed... Changed to a valid directory - all is good..

Now the question is.....would we have solved our own problems if we hadn't posted to the board first?

LOL

Good question... Thing that frustrates me is that I search and read, search and read, for sometimes hours - I finally decide to ask for help - and the answer pops into my head the second I hit the submit button...
