I've been a subscriber to DirecTV for about six years now. I notice that all of the "deals" on new receivers - particularly DirecTiVo units are for new subscribers only.

Am I stuck with my old hardware or is there some provision that would allow me to get a new receiver without paying a fortune? I've looked at buying a unit outright on Ebay and it looks like the T60s are selling for $400 or more. The folks selling on Ebay got the receivers without subscribing (I suppose) Is there some way that I can do the same?

Thanks in advance!

I saw a post on another deal site where a guy (and several people who replied) said they called DTV and asked for the cancellation department. The guy sais there is another department, and if you insist you get transferred. Once over to the cancellation department you give them a story about a reciever giving you a hard time, acting funny, bad picture and whatever. Since you can't get hardware without paying big $$$ as a subscriber, you think you'll try dish - you want a nice PVR model like the dish 501 (of a DTIVO unit - heehee). Supposedly they will offer up a $200 credit for new hardware to your account.

If not you can bail on the call saying, "I'll have to discuss what to do with my wife." I guess it's worth a try.
